Natural Drain Cleaner

Green Living Tips: Natural Drain Cleaner

We already understand the inherent dangers of having chemicals in our homes; the wash of chemicals and pesticides we are exposed to over our lifetimes can cause cancers or neurological damage. Not to mention the more immediate symptoms like respiratory issues, allergy symptoms, rashes etc. Green living means keeping your indoor air quality clean and minimize contact with  chemicals by utilizing natural products to create your own cleaning products.

Blocked drains are a pain, but commercial drain cleaners are among the most harmful of household cleaning products. Now you can make your own super duper natural drain cleaner that won’t give you the heeby jeebies.

Ingredients:

1/4 cup baking soda

1/2 cup of vinegar

Method:
Pour the baking soda down the drain followed by the vinegar. Cover the drain with a plug or a plate and leave for 30 minutes.  Let the hot water run for 2-3 minutes. You may need to repeat this with stubbornly clogged drains.

While you’re at it, soak a napkin in vinegar and lay it on your taps for 30 minutes to remove water stains and lime deposits.

Holy crap! Is there nothing baking soda and vinegar can’t cure? Baking soda isn’t a bunch of BS; its a little bit of amazing that makes green living so much easier. Check out natural shampoos and natural deodorants too!
