DIY Dry Shampoo Recipe

You know that the day you’re running late for work and have an important meeting is precisely the day that you’ll look in the mirror and realize you forgot to wash your hair. Unless it’s a meeting with a 90’s grunge band, your greaseball hairdo isn’t going to go down well. Fear not! We’ve got your back. This dry shampoo recipe is just the ticket to get your locks looking luscious.

Shampoos (both wet and dry) are packed with chemicals that are bad for us. We’ve already looked at wet shampoos and conditioners that you can make yourself and you can find that post here. The dry shampoo is so easy to make!

What you Need:

1/2 cup cornstarch
1/2 cup arrowroot powder
2 Tbsp. white clay (get this at your heath food store)
5 drops of essential oil (try ylang ylang, lavender or rosemary)

Mix together and store in an airtight container. When you want to use it, simply shake it into the hair and comb through.

Bonus Uses:

  • This makes a really great body powder too.
  • Switch out the essential oil for tea tree or lavender and you have a great foot and shoe powder that will combat the stinkiest of feet.
