Best Fall Eco-Friendly Footwear Review for Outdoorsy Types

As the weather cools, we hope you will be hitting the hills… and the woods and beaches and savannas – you get the idea. Fall is a great time for outdoors activities because it’s cooler and (most importantly) there are no damn bugs! We have compiled a collection of great footwear that our Greenmoxie team recommends.

Layna Chacos

If, like me, you are not a fan of the hiking boot, then the Layna is for you! Hiking in these waterproof puppies is like having cherubs gently hug your feet. I am prone to blisters and most shoes take a while to wear in, but I put these on and spent two days walking; my ‘backup’ shoes didn’t even see

The reason for their comfort is the aptly named LUVSEAT™ PU footbed and a shank-supported EVA midsole which make the Lyna so heavenly. Since my initial hike, I have used these for running too (great in the snow) and just being a tourist about town.

Kenneth Cole Kam Editor’s Pick – I LOVED these!

Kenneth Cole KamsThese are my new favorite things! They incorporate 37.5 Technology is the most advanced clothing technology that helps control your core body temp, no matter the activity or season. 37.5 works by infusing fabric with natural activated minerals from volcanic sand and coconuts which react to the humidity near your skin to retain heat when you’re cold or dissipate it when you’re warm. 37.5 Technology is derived from natural materials and is permanently embedded, so the performance doesn’t disappear with washing. This lowers the carbon footprint of your kicks, helping to reduce your carbon footprint by up to 11 million tons of carbon dioxide a year in the USA alone. These Kenneth Cole Kams are comfy and your feet will stay dry all day long.

Chacos Z Canyon 2 – Best. Sandals. EVER!

Chacos ZOK, these are awesome! I use these when I know I am going to be in and out of the water and I don’t want to have to take my shoes off every time. Fording a river? No problem! Those slippery rocks don’t stand a chance. I think what I like about these is that the straps are one continuous band of  jacquard webbing, so you can adjust everything from the toe loop to the tension over the top with one easy buckle. It doesn’t matter what shape your foot is (yes, mine is weird), these are super comfy.

The Z Canyons provide maximum grip so you can use them to hike, swim or scamper about the trails. From the website: A running-inspired, kinetic rebound plate captures and returns energy with every step while the innovative, dual-density 3-D Heel Holster locks in performance. Newly formulated ChacoGrip+ outsole leverages toe and heel pods to level up traction and our new, Cloud 2.0 midsole use bio-targeted support for active cushioning.
