If You’re Not Cooking Beer Cheese Dip Over a Campfire, You’re Missing Out!

Ladies and gentlemen… let me introduce beer cheese dip. This genius combination of two of your favorite things began life as a Kentucky recipe, developed in 1940 by a local chef. Apparently Elizabeth II, you know… the Queen of England, was so taken by this delectable dip that she took some beer cheese products home when she returned from Lexington. Rumor has it that the queen keeps her horses in Kentucky and always takes beer cheese products back home after the derby.

Beer cheese is so popular that it even has its own festival—the Beer Cheese Festival takes place in Winchester, KY where both amateur and professional beer cheese connoisseurs compete to win the coveted beer cheese trophy.

Let’s Make Beer Cheese Dip!

You will need a natural and fresh cheese for the perfect beer cheese dip. Find the most trusted brands which sell cream and cheddar cheese at TodayTopReviews. Then, all you need is the right beer and a bunch of other ingredients.

What you need

  • 3 cups of shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 8 ounces of softened cream cheese
  • 2 cloves of minced garlic
  • 1 cup of lager beer
  • one tablespoon of fresh chives (or green onion)
  • salt
  • a pinch of cayenne pepper

For dipping you can use a sliced baguette. The recipe takes about 10 minutes of prep and 10 minutes for cooking.

Mix the cheddar and cream cheese with garlic, chives and beer in the skillet. Season with the salt and cayenne pepper. Cover the skillet with foil. Place the skillet over hot coals and wait until the mix melts. Occasionally stir using a wooden cooking spoon. Once the cheese had melted, serve with bread, pretzels or crackers. Serves 8.

So, get ready for your next campfire. Find a campsite in the US, gather your tools and pack for the weekend! But don’t forget the ingredients for the cheese beer dip.
